A Note from the Chair

It has been my honor to serve the Intermountain Desert Section for the past four years.  While we are still very much a fledgling group, we have grown and made tremendous strides in creating a community for our local Theatre Technicians and Designers, from our universities with several thriving student chapters and dedicated educators to our professional members across our large region.

While we were not able to meet this year in Houston, it is my hope that everyone is safe and healthy and that we’ll see each other next year in Ohio.  It is an exciting time, with two new board members and a newly elected chair.  I am excited to see what they will offer in terms of education, development, and professional programming (not to mention, happy hours!).  Please join me in welcoming them!

Chair-Kim Scott is an original founding member of our section.  She joins us from sunny Las Vegas where she is the General Manager of Celestia and currently serves as the Treasurer of USITT.

Secretary-Jessica Greenburg is an Associate Professor of Lighting Design at Weber State University in Ogden, UT.

Member-at-Large-Kelly Simons is an Assistant Professor of Technical Direction at Utah State University in Logan, UT.

Together with Brent Innes (Vice Chair), Jaron Kent Hermansen (Treasurer), Wes Hamblin (Programming), and Spencer Potter (Membership) we have a great team. We’d like to thank our outgoing board members Marissa Gavin and Joe Alldredge for their time and support.

If you are looking to get involved or have an idea for programming or an event, please reach out to one of us, we’d love to hear from you!

Please, stay safe and healthy, and hopefully we’ll all be back at work soon.

Cheers,

La Beene
